Mothers Day Celebration: Preschool Edition

Today was Lia's classroom presentation for Mother's Day Celebration at her school. They made an activity called Excellence Fair where each group had to learn from a topic (for about a month) and end the learning journey by doing a presentation for all the parents to see, while honoring the Mothers Day celebration at the same time.

In Lia's classroom (Nursery 2) the topic selected was The Very Hungry Caterpillar Book by Eric Carle.

I really loved this book and the idea of choosing it for the presentation. It shows in a very simple and entertaining way how a caterpillar ends up being a beautiful butterfly. It's very didactic as well and I thought it was the perfect story for this classroom of preschoolers.

The children were dressed with a Caterpillar T-shirt and some bug antennas made by the teachers. They looked adorable!

 

 

There was even one of the little boys dressed as a caterpillar #diedoflove and other of the girls was a butterfly #socute

Emily came over from her classroom to watch the presentation with me... I snagged a selfie with my two girls while they were shining and smiling :)

And then.... this happened... A couple of Lia's classmates wanted a selfie with me as well!!! I thought this was hysterical and quickly obliged!!!

Then they made a presentation where they said the caterpillar story and sang a caterpillar song... At this point I was totally teary eyed and couldn't close my smile :) #mommawassoproud

At the end of the presentation Lia gave me some gifts they did themselves with the help of their teachers. One jar with a small caterpillar inside and one cookie decorated as an apple. She ate the cookie of course... I found the souvenir so cute! Its a very nice detail and sweet as the story is.

Lia was so proud of her performance, and I was happy to see her concentrated on doing her best. I am happy she is learning and growing so much! And I am proud to be her mom.

Mother's day celebrations started today! I am up for a full weekend of remembering how special it is for me to be Emily, Lia and D's mom. And for that, I will be forever thankful!

Weekend Recap: BIG Fail at taking good pictures edition

I realize that If I will be logging a history for my girls to see in the future, I should  be doing a better job at taking pictures and capturing some good moments.
The fact is that I seriously hate to interrupt when we are having such a good time giggling, talking or doing something fun, just to paralyze the moment to take my phone or camera out and snap a good picture of it (know what I mean?)

Anyways, we had a good weekend overall. Friday night we started by ordering pizza and watching The Pink Panther on our Ipad. Kind of my perfect-low key-entertaining way to end a busy week :)

On Saturday morning Pablo and I started a "Retiro de Evangelización" at our church. We didn't realize that it was a Retiro until we started it... so I was a bit scared at the beginning on how we would take this, being the very first time we were participating in one as a couple, but it ended being an AMAZING experience almost indescribable for me. The Retiro started on Saturday for the whole day until 6pm and ended on Sunday with the mass at 2pm.
From this experience I will only say that God really works in very mysterious ways, and that I loved the fact that I got to share this experience with Pablo, my one and only <3

Saturday night Pablo and I attended one of his coworker's wedding. It was fun to share some time with his friends from work and get a night out with him without the girls for instance... Again, no great pictures other than these blurry ones :)

Sunday afternoon after lunch and a quick nap, Pablo took the girls out for some play time at Magiainflable in Sambil (bless his heart) so I did a lot of this:

Lay in bed and binge watch my favorite HGTV shows, with snacks and AC on... what else could a mom-screaming for a break- could ask for?! :)

Then at night my sister brought food and we had dinner the eight of us together. Again, a perfect way to end a busy-yet relaxing-soul filling weekend.

Friday Favorites

Another round of my favorites for the week. My top five at least.

1. Sam Edelman Felicia Flats

I got these shoes and they are the most comfortable flats that I've ever worn. I seriously want to use them all day every day. I got them in red and not only they are beautiful, I also feel that they can be worn with almost everything from my closet. I am very sure the cost per wear on these ones will be minimal.

2. Snackeez Cups

I found about Snackeez through another blog and immediately wanted to try them out. Turns out they are fabulous for busy moms with kids on the go! You can have the drink in the bottom  part and the food in the top like a breeze! The girls love their new cups and carry them everywhere now!!!

 

 

3. This quote

As we live day by day we tend to think things doesn't change much, but if you look back you realize how different things are now from what they were before. I want to apply this to seeing my girls grow and as a reminder to cherish every moment I spend with them today and every day; because sooner than later they will be teenagers wanting to create their own world. I hope (and pray) I can create strong bonds with both of them today so they can see me in their life's tomorrow :)

4. This girl and her veggies

This is something I can't explain. It just happened. She loves veggies. I can call this a mom win! I posted this picture on IG and FB the other day because she asked to have broccoli for dinner and loved the response from other moms. I am proud of my little lady. She can be very opinionated about things she likes and things she doesn't.

5. Last Sunday Beach Lunch

Last Sunday after church we decided to take a quick trip to the beach to have lunch with my sister's family. We happened to meet some good friends over there. We had a very nice time having lunch, chatting and the girls (and boys) playing around.

That's it for my favorites this week. I am looking forward to a special (and fun) weekend with two activities we have planned for Pablo and myself. We will be attending a couple's activity at church all day Saturday and half day Sunday and going to a wedding of one of Pablo's coworker on Saturday night. This makes me realize that I better plan something fun for the girls on Sunday afternoon so they can have some attention from us this weekend. It should be fun!

What's in my to-do list today

Yo trabajo full time, atiendo mi casa y las niñas tambien full time, y quiero tiempo para mi (ha! too much to ask?) así que hoy se me ocurre escribir sobre las cosas que tengo en mi lista de pendientes para hacerme una idea de qué hago con mi tiempo (cuando venga a mirar atras)...

1. Dia de las Madres

Aunque no hago una gran producción para celebrar este día, si busco regalitos para las mamis queridas de la familia.

2. Teacher's Appreciation Gifts

Y hablando de regalos, las profesoras de mis hijas para mi han sido INMENSAS bendiciones este año asi que quiero reconocerles el esfuerzo y la dedicación para  con mis niñas con unos bonitos regalos de fin de curso.

3. Coordinar actividad de fin de curso para Emily

Y hablando de fin de curso, este año escolar Emily se gradúa de "Ya se Leer" (aunque sabe leer hace rato) y, en conjunto con todas las madres del salon, estamos coordinando una actividad para celebrarle a los niños este gran logro :).

4. Decidir un Campamento de Verano para las niñas

Y con las vacaciones de verano viene la necesidad de buscar una actividad para las niñas (ni ellas ni yo aguantamos vacaciones trancadas en casa hahaha).

5. Organizar una agenda de actividades para mi

Ya mencioné que quiero tiempo para mi (todavia no me creo que sea posible) y estoy enamorandome de la idea de hacer una agenda (light) de cosas que quiero lograr, asignarles tiempos y dias y ver si de esa manera puedo conseguir algun que otro objetivo. Mis deseos son tan simples como leer un libro que tengo mucho que me interesa leer o hacer ejercicios... asi que no deberia ser tan dificil digo yo!

Hay muchas otras cosillas de aqui o alla que tambien tengo en mi lista de pendientes pero como son relacionadas a trabajo o familia extendida, me quiero limitar aqui a documentar solo lo de las niñas o mio... al final para ellas creé el espacio no?
Será interesante actualizar despues estos TO-DO a ver que tal me fue con ellos...

5- The weekend!!!

My very favorite!!! estos ultimos fines de semana han sido muy cheveres (laid back, nothing too planned but perfectly relaxing) asi que una vez mas Im looking forward to this next one :) :)

 







Weekend Recap - Paradisus Punta Cana

El fin de semana pasado se agregó un lunes feriado por conmemorarse el dia del Trabajador. Coincide este dia con nuestro aniversario de bodas (11) y decidimos a modo de celebración y descanso irnos hasta Punta Cana.
El lugar seleccionado Paradisus Punta Cana y The Reserve para nuestra estadía.

El Hotel espectacular, a pesar de tener unos años ya de construido esta bien cuidado, sus instalaciones super comodas y las habitaciones son muy bonitas. El servicio espectacular, la comida y la bebida por igual.

Pero lo que mas nos gustó fue el Kids Zone. Este hotel esta pensado para familias y niños. Sus actividades orientadas a niños son super chulas, por demas Emily nunca quiso salir del lugar.
La pasamos super bien, no queriamos dejar el lugar. Definitivamente volveremos ahi...

Al llegar al hotel inmediatamente fuimos a reconocer el Kids Zone... las niñas quedaron enamoradas y fue al primer lugar que fuimos al levantarnos en la siguiente mañana.

 

En la noche cenamos en uno de los restaurantes del hotel, Vento, Buena comida y excelente servicio... lo que mas me gusto fue el menu para los niños en forma de juguete! Ellas duraron tres horas para seleccionar lo que querian comer solo por estar jugando lol

Al dia siguiente nos levantamos *bright and early* y fuimos a la piscina a esperar que abrieran el Kids Zone...

 





En el Kids Zone ellas hicieron un monton de actividades: collares, pizzas, fingerpainting, indian dancing. camping, tennis, pintar caritas, movie time, bungee jumping *you name it*... estaban felices!!! y Emily principalmente no quiso salir de ahi para nada!!!

Mientras ellas disfrutaban sus actividades... nosotros estabamos en modo --> swim, eat, drink, rest, repeat... no puedo describer aquello, justo lo que necesitaba para relajarme y recargar energias :)

 



Tambien pasamos un buen rato de playa, ellas hicieron castillos de arena y nos bañamos para disfrutar un poco las olas y el mar... perfect!

 

En las noches pasabamos el rato con las actividades que ambientaban el lugar... jazz night que tenia a Lia enamorada de la cantante (musica en vivo suave) y tambien Disco night para los niños donde ellas bailaron todas sus canciones infantiles...


 





Mi reflexión de hoy: Estoy siendo la madre que quiero que mis hijas recuerden?

Este es el mes en el que se celebra la maternidad para nosotros y antes que recibir felicitaciones o regalos por el hecho de haber procreado y estar ayudando a crecer a estas dos criaturitas de Dios, ayer leí un articulo donde una madre se preguntaba "sere una madre que mis hijos recuerden con amor y alegria?".
El articulo, muy interesante por demas, me ayudó a poner en perspectiva muchas de las cosas de este rol de ser madre y la gran responsabilidad que Dios ha depositado en mis manos para que un dia, mis hijas tambien puedan serlo con la misma sino mas dedicación y amor que habran recibido de mi en esta experiencia de vida. 

Hoy comparto mi pensamiento como un compromiso hacia ellas, con la esperanza de que un dia puedan modelar con buen ejemplo todo lo que de nosotros han de aprender... Y confiando en que si algo les ha de quedar, sea la seguridad del gran amor que tengo y siempre tendre por ellas... Mis razones de ser <3

Bienvenida...he aqui mis protagonistas...

Bienvenida a mi tercer intento de formar recuerdos, de construir historias que puedan perdurar en el tiempo y convertirse en interesantes para algun que otro que quiera prestar sus oidos y escucharlas (o en tal caso leerlas).

Aqui, justo en mi primera publicación de este tercer intento, presento a mis inspiraciones, quienes serán protagonistas de la mayoria de mis historias, y quienes me enorgullecen cada dia regalandome la bendición de ser madre.

 

 

Emily Marie: tiene 7 años y es la niña mas dulce y atenta que Dios me pudo regalar. Le gusta hablar (como a su mama), dibujar (como a su abuela paterna), abrazar (como a su papa) y llorar... por todo...

Sabe leer y escribir perfectamente ya y ademas aprende ingles. Estudia Ballet y le encanta.  Es amorosa, sublime, inocente, observadora y tiene memoria de elefante. Le gusta compartir con su familia, tiene un millón de amigos. Es tímida a veces, le cuesta tomar iniciativa cuando no esta en su circulo de confianza. Sus ídolos son sus primos Alina y Oriol. Cuando sea grande quiere ser artista, pintora para ser mas exactos, tener una galería de arte y que las personas puedan ir y comprar sus pinturas y cuadros. Sus emociones son su forma de comunicación. No entiende por que su papa no le permite ver television de adultos.

 

 

Lia Michelle: tiene 4 años y es la alegria de la casa. Se chupa el dedo y arrastra una sabana a todas partes. Es dulce pero firme, personalidad muy definida, le gusta tener el control de las cosas y las personas que le rodean, da ordenes, se hace escuchar. Es atrevida, juguetona, muy parecida a su papa (no solo en lo físico sino tambien en personalidad). No es "morning person" y definitivamente necesita tiempo para ajustarse a las personas y situaciones antes de sentirse con confianza. No le gusta saludar a quien ella no quiere (lo cual otros ven como un problema mas quien la conoce la entiende), sus ídolos son sus primos Oriol y Jose Alejandro. En la escuela es aplicada cuando quiere, dice que no le interesa aprender a leer y a escribir pero se que no es cierto porque muestra interes en hacerlo, solo que le falta dedicacion para invertir el tiempo. Le gustan los dibujos animados, todo el tema de Disney, Princesas, Barbie y Peppa Pig. Cuando sea grande quiere ser Doctora como su papa (lo cual no sería sorpresa para mi por lo mucho que se parecen en todos los aspectos). Ama la sopa y los vegetales.

 

Ambas me ponen a prueba todos los dias, me recuerdan lo feliz que soy, lo tolerante que debo ser, lo importante de mi rol como su madre. Dios me ha entregado dos de sus gemas para que yo las proteja y las pula y en el futuro cercano sean mujeres de bien. En este escenario trataré de recopilar todas nuestras experiencias para que un dia ellas, mis nietos, sus amigos y sus futuros relacionados las aprendan a conocer mejor, y compartan como fue su vida...Habrá también espacio para mi, mi casa, las cosas que me gustan ... pero las principales protagonistas de esta historia seran ellas, mis princesas, mis enanas queridas...
